SEDG Cell (Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups)

Sikkim International University has constituted a SEDG Cell (Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups) in alignment with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Cell is dedicated to promoting inclusive education and ensuring equitable access to academic opportunities for students belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The SEDG Cell works to identify and support students from underprivileged sections, including those facing financial, social, geographic, or educational disadvantages. The primary aim of the Cell is to reduce barriers to higher education and provide a supportive academic environment that enables students to succeed.

The Cell facilitates information and assistance related to scholarships, fee concessions, government welfare schemes, and financial aid programs. It also provides academic mentoring, counseling support, and remedial coaching where necessary to help students bridge learning gaps and enhance academic performance.

In addition, the SEDG Cell conducts awareness programs, sensitization workshops, and orientation sessions to ensure that students are informed about their rights, available support mechanisms, and institutional policies promoting equity and inclusion.

The University ensures that all initiatives undertaken by the SEDG Cell are implemented in a transparent, fair, and non-discriminatory manner. Through these efforts, Sikkim International University reaffirms its commitment to social justice, inclusive growth, and equal opportunity in higher education.
