The Sikkim International University has established an Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) to promote inclusivity, equity, and equal access to educational opportunities for all students, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged, marginalized, and underrepresented sections of society. The Cell functions in alignment with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the principles of social justice enshrined in the Constitution of India.
The Equal Opportunity Cell works to ensure that no student faces discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, gender, religion, disability, socioeconomic background, or any other personal identity. It aims to create a supportive academic environment where diversity is respected and equal participation is encouraged.
The Cell organizes awareness programs, sensitization workshops, and orientation sessions to promote values of equality, diversity, and mutual respect within the campus community. It also provides guidance and support services to students who may face academic, social, or institutional challenges.
In addition, the EOC facilitates access to scholarships, financial assistance schemes, and government welfare programs wherever applicable. It collaborates with other institutional committees to strengthen inclusive policies and ensure barrier-free access to academic and campus facilities.
Through its initiatives, the Equal Opportunity Cell reaffirms the University’s commitment to inclusive growth, social responsibility, and equal opportunity for all learners.
